Abstract
Studies suggest that racial disparities exist in the administration of drug toxicology testing during delivery. Black pregnant women may face higher rates of testing, which raises concerns about potential biases and systemic inequities in perinatal care. We conducted a meta-analysis to examine whether Black pregnant women are tested more frequently for substance use during delivery— including prenatal testing, as well as testing of the birthing person and infant at or around the time of delivery— compared to other racial groups.
